We were able to leave the hospital a little over 24 hours after Kelten was born. We were very excited considering we had been there so long. Here are a few pics we took at the hospital before we went home.

Kelten is already a fan of our Alma maters--BYU and UNC
(except we unfortunately didn't have time to get Wake Forest socks) |

Once home it was a whole new ball game! It was pretty crazy getting used to feeding him so often, not sleeping, and trying to sleep with his little baby noises in the room. Then there was his weight...We left the hospital and he was 5 lbs 12 oz. When we went to the pediatrician on day 4 of life, he had lost down to 5 lbs 3 oz. This was over 13% of his body weight. Yikes! The pediatrician had us start supplementing with formula. We went back the next day and he was 5 lbs 8 oz!! We supplemented for another 3 days and then he was set. By the way, we love our Pediatrician, Dr. Pickens, at University Pediatrics at Highgate! By 1 week he was back to 6 lbs. Even though he is still small, he is growing! At Kelten's 1 month visit, we took him to get weighed and the nurse didn't get his height because she thought it was his 1 week visit. By then he weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was in the 10th percentile for weight and height!

During the first week, things were difficult, but made so much easier by some wonderful people! My mom was there with us when we went home. She left the next day and Martin and I spent one whole day and night be ourselves with Kelten before Martin's mom came. She came for 5 days and helped out so much! My mom also came for a couple of days over Labor Day Weekend. Up through this time and for several weeks after, some goodt friends and family brought us meals and we enjoyed some really great food! We are so blessed to have wonderful friends and family!

Love babies! I call my little man my bug. And I remember when we got hi home, Mike and I were sitting in the living room, he was asleep, and we looked at each other, like, "What now? Are we ready for this?" Crazy how much they change your life.
